Backgrounds

Background layers allow GRIDit users to view their data in different contexts.

By default, the ‘GRIDit background' layer is shown. This plain background puts your data in the foreground.

However, users can choose to view their data against a variety of backgrounds, including topographic and navigational charts.

Change Background

Click the 'folded chart' icon (background.png) to see five options:

  • GRIDit background (default)
  • OpenStreetMap
  • ESRI World Topo Map
  • ESRI World Imagery (Satellite Image)
  • ESRI World Gray Canvas

This layer will always display on the bottom (it is not configurable).

Backgrounds from External Services

To display your data against a background of detailed nautical charts, click the 'globe with arrow' symbol (external_services.png). Users will see the following options:

This layer will always display above a background but below all layers imported by a user.
